The Life Group Network exists to equip and empower disciples of Jesus Christ to become disciple makers. Discipleship is central to the ministry and growth of our church and a Life Group is a small group of people who meet regularly (weekly/fortnightly) for the primary purpose of discipleship.
In the Gospels we get a clear picture of the power of Jesus influence over 12 people as he discipled them over a period of 3 years. Jesus concentrated on 12 people in order to reproduce his character and teaching in them. It is in Jesus model of discipleship that we gain an understanding of how to disciple people in the 21st Century. Jesus has mandated and commissioned us as believers to ‘make disciples of all nations’. We as a church have embraced a life group model called Activate 28 that helps us to follow Jesus pattern of discipleship.
At Kingdom Life Church Melbourne we have embraced the Activate 28 Life Group as our primary focus and environment for making disciples.
The Activate 28 life group model changes the traditional concept of cell multiplication by offering the possibly of continued intimate relationship after a life group leader reproduces them selves.
In the Activate 28 life group model we discover a method of discipleship that enables a person/couple to disciple 10-12 people/couples one week while being discipled themselves the following week in their own Activate 28 life group. This ensures that each person grows in their relationship with God, is pastorally cared for and developed as a leader while they themselves are repeating the process for those disciples under their influence.
The Activate 28 model is a highly focused and purpose driven model that aims to prevent a small group experience from degenerating into a mentality that promotes fellowship and refreshments as the ultimate goal. Whilst recognizing that fellowship is a part of the life group experience it is not the sum total. Jesus has called us to make disciples of all nations and as a church we will devote our energies to seeing this goal become a reality through our Life Group Network.
